GERALDINE – To say Sand Rock’s Jacob StClair was on top his game Tuesday night against Asbury in the Geraldine Thanksgiving Classic is an understatement.
StClair connected on five 3-pointers and was a perfect 21-of-21 from the free-throw line in the Wildcats’ 95-84 victory. His point total propelled him past 1,000 points for his career. He entered the game 18 points shy of the milestone.
StClair also had five rebounds and four assists for the Wildcats (2-2).
Kaden Justice contributed 10 points and nine boards. Ben Dale delivered eight points, five rebounds and four steals. Gunner Cox came away with six points and four steals.
Nine different Wildcats scored in the game. As a team, they were 23-of-26 from the charity stripe. Asbury was 26-of-41.
Sand Rock led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter, but Asbury rallied to tie the game at halftime 40-40. The Wildcats held a 62-61 advantage at the end of the third quarter, then outscored the Rams 33-23 in the fourth for the final.
Stanisa Donovic led Asbury with 22 points. Zack Adams added 17 points.
Sand Rock takes on DAR on Wednesday at noon.
