Collinsville girls hold on against Douglas

COLLINSVILLE – Tyla Tatum connected on an inside shot with less than five seconds remaining, lifting the Collinsville Panthers past Douglas 41-39 in girls basketball action on Friday.

Tatum’s basket was the only bucket Collinsville made in the fourth quarter. She finished with a game high 23 points. Gracie Griggs added nine points and Kayla Beene finished with five points.

Tori Rojek led Douglas with 12 points. Mallory Ackles and Madison Franklin both had seven points. Maddie Hayes finished with six points.

Collinsville led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Douglas forged ahead 27-26 at the break. The Lady Panthers surged back out in front 38-30 after three quarters and held on for the win.

In the boys game, Colton Wills scored a game-high 22 points, but Douglas claimed a 65-46 victory.

Alex Garcia added 13 points. Luke Henderson had six points and Dawson Cothran finished with five points.

Raygan Edmondson and Eli Teal both netted 15 points for the Eagles. Yael Lucas Mendoza added 11 points and Jaylen Spain finished with nine points.
