Gaylesville splits basketball games against Crossville

GAYLESVILLE — The Gaylesville basketball teams split their season-opening basketball games Thursday against Crossville.

The Lady Trojans suffered a 54-33 setback, while the Trojan boys earned a 46-39 victory.

In the girls game, Briseyda Gonzalez netted 19 points and Kinsley Henderson tossed in 17 to lead the Lady Lions.

Paislee Bryson, Aubrie Peek and Shonda Epps each had seven points for Gaylesville. Starr Mayes finished with six points.

In the boys game, Keylon Higgins led three Trojans in double figures with 13 points. Kyler and Kuper Bradley both contributed 10 points. Collin Hendon finished with seven points.

Dominic Hatley led Crossville with 15 points. Levi Bouldin finished with nine points.

Crossville held a 9-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but Gaylesville took a 23-20 lead into halftime. The Trojans held a 30-29 edge after three quarters and outscored the Lions 16-10 in the fourth for the final.
