Collinsville girls, boys hold strong, but fall at Pisgah

PISGAH – Collinsville fell in a varsity basketball doubleheader at Pisgah on Tuesday. In the girls game, Kayla Beene connected on six 3-pointers for the Lady Panthers and finished with 24 points, but Pisgah came away with a 77-64 victory.

In the nightcap, Colton Wills’ 21 points weren’t enough for the Panthers in a 76-66 setback.

In the girls game, Pisgah jumped out to 23-13 at the end of the first quarter and built a 45-30 edge at halftime. The Lady Eagles led 60-47 after three quarters.

Molly Heard led Pisgah with 22 points, including a pair of treys. Kallie Tinker tallied 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Piper Anderson added nine points, all on treys. Lila Kate Wheeler finished with seven points.

Tyla Tatum collected 20 points for Collinsville (0-2), including a pair of 3-pointers. Gracie Griggs came away with eight points, and Rylee Tillery finished with six points on a pair of treys.

In the boys game, Pisgah led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter and 40-31 at the break. Collinsville cut its deficit to a point at 49-48 after three quarters, but the Eagles went on a 27-18 run in the fourth for the final.

Legion McCrary topped Pisgah with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Jake Hendricks netted 14 points and Rhyan Barrett tossed in 13 points. Jakob Kirby came away with 11 points, and Luke Gilbert finished with 10 points.

Dawson Cothran collected 15 points for Collinsville (0-1). Alex Garcia added 14 points and Carson Dennis delivered seven points.

Collinsville hosts Asbury on Thursday.
