First responders contained a large structure fire at Pheasant Run Apartments, located on the 200 block of Greenleaf Street SW in Jacksonville.

According to Jacksonville Police Chief Marcus Wood, emergency workers responded to a call at about 5:23 Sunday morning that one of the apartment buildings had caught fire.

Wood said the damage is extensive and that all residents were evacuated safely.

Two people were injured after they leapt from the building’s second story to avoid the fire.

They were transported to UAB by Life Flight, according to Chief Wood, but their injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening. No other serious injuries have been reported.

A total of eight units were destroyed in the fire, a cause for the fire has yet to be determined.

Anyone affected by the fire at Pheasant Run Apartments may contact the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center, JCOC for assistance, located at 206 W Francis St. behind McDonald’s, in the First United Methodist Church parking lot.
