Presiding Judge Shaunathan Bell Discusses the Court System on WEIS Radio Morning Show

WEIS Radio recently welcomed a very special guest into the studios – Presiding Judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit, Judge Shaunathan Bell – who stopped in to discuss several issues, including the rearranging of different courtrooms, in order to accommodate a large number of cases:

But wait, that’s just the start.  As Judge Bell stressed, working together for the good of both communities has always been a priority in Cherokee and DeKalb counties:

“The Circuit Courts and Cherokee County District Court has been very busy recently – and Judge Tim Burgess kindly allowed my staff and I to utilize the Cherokee County Commission Chambers for court.  Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver’s office has also been extremely helpful in providing security and logistical support.   Also thanks to Centre Mayor Mark Mansfield for allowing us to conduct court sessions in the City Hall/Community Center.”

Judge Bell also discussed the need for a much more “efficient” method of doing things – certainly NOT at the cost of accuracy, but as a means of moving things along quickly because they SHOULD be on the fast track; and with that there’s a new program that’s being implemented in regard to child-support:

Judge Bell specifically pointed out that his office is continuing to work on and make a great deal of headway in one of his main campaign promises to residents of Cherokee and DeKalb counties:

“A huge ‘Thank you’ to Lisa Hall for helping my office. Lisa came out of retirement for the day to help us with our jury trials in Cherokee County. She has always been a great asset to the local judiciary.  She served 44.5 years prior to retirement plus her recent assistance.”
