HUNTSVILLE – The Sand Rock boys cross country team finished first and the Lady Wildcats took second in the Class 1A/2A Section 4 5K Run at John Hunt Running Park in Huntsville on Thursday.
Ben Dale was the Wildcat boys top runner, coming in sixth with a time of 18:19.25. Caleb Yoder took seventh with a time of 18:24.62.
Jack Watson came in 12th with a time of 19:49.59. Ben Bruce took 13th with a time of 19:57.58. Austin Yoder earned 14th with a time of 20:08.99. Wesley Childers came in 15th with a time of 20:14.94. Bryant Yoder was 17th with a time of 20:26.87.
Austin Daniell came in 35th with a time of 22:10.29. Kayl Hill had a time of 23:38.00 to finish 47th.
Katelin Stiefel earned first place overall in the 1A/2A girls 5K with a time of 21:40.68. Abby King came in third with a time of 22:19.04. Ensley Callantine earned ninth place with a time of 23:19.59.
Christy Alred was 20th with a time of 25:15.36. Lacie Crain came in 23rd with a time of 25:41.72. Samantha Carr claimed 24th with a time of 25:42.00. Kiara Graham earned 25th with a time of 25:59.95.
Harlie Williams was 31st with a time of 27:10.48. KellyBre Clanton finished 40th with a time of 29:57.50.
Cedar Bluff’s girls came in fifth place. Raven Cail and CeCe Davis led the Lady Tigers by finishing 18th and 22nd respectively. Their times were 24:43.52 and 25:34.52 respectively.
Caitlyn Sherrod took 33rd with a time of 27:50.02. Hayden Cannon came in 34th with a time of 27:53.14. Skye Jordan finished 38th with a time of 29:33.35.
Austin Richardson led the Tiger boys with a ninth-place finish after posting a time of 19:30.06. Artie Duvall was 48th with a time of 23:54.27.
The top 15 runners made the All-Section Team. The sectional’s top four teams and top six runners not attached to a qualifying team will compete at the state meet in Moulton on Nov. 6.
