Cedar Bluff re-enters ASWA football rankings

Staff Reports

The Cedar Bluff Tigers have been on the hottest high school football teams of late.

After beginning the season at 2-3, they’ve now won four in a row to improve to 6-3 overall and clinched the Class 1A, Region 7 championship along the way.

The Alabama Sports Writers Association has taken notice of the Tigers’ recent success and placed them in the Class 1A top 10 at No. 10 in this week’s football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.

It’s the first time Cedar Bluff has been ranked since Week 1 of the season when the Tigers came in at No. 8. They conclude the 2021 regular season by hosting rival Sand Rock (6-3) on Thursday night.

Class 3A Piedmont (8-1) and Class 2A Spring Garden (9-0) held steady at No. 2 and No. 5 in their respective classes. The Bulldogs host Class 5A, No. 3 Alexandria (9-0) on Friday. Spring Garden travels to Class 1A, No. 6 Wadley (9-0), also on Friday.
