Spring Garden volleyball finishes fourth in Class 2A North Super Regional

HUNTSVILLE — The Spring Garden Lady Panthers finished fourth in the Class 2A North Volleyball Super Regional in Huntsville Thursday. They lost in four sets to both Hatton and Cherokee County rival Sand Rock.

In the 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 23-25 loss to Hatton, Neely Welsh led the Lady Panthers with 22 kills, three blocks and a dig. Suzie Carter contributed 12 kills and four blocks. Abbey Steward added 28 assists, a dig and an ace. Alle Jennings posted three kills and two aces. Bri Boles came away with two aces. Layla Ingram tallied a kill and an assist. Aubrey Sadler had an assist and Abbie Woods finished with an ace.

In the third-place match against Sand Rock, the Lady Panthers fell 15-25, 25-20, 14-25 and 17-25. Welsh and Carter both collected nine kills. Welsh also added four blocks, a dig and an ace. Carter also had an ace. Jennings delivered seven kills. Sadler came away with five kills. Ingram added a kill. Woods and Boles both finished with an ace.

Spring Garden will face South Super Regional champion Orange Beach at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
