Gadsden State Skills Training Division recognizes program completers

Gadsden, Ala. – The Gadsden State Community College Skills Training Division recognized students completing the Medication Assistant Program.

Gadsden State began offering the training program in April with six students completing the first class.  Those students have now also received their certification to work as Medication Assistants.  These include Doris Boyd, Shanice Davis, LaDreaka Phillips and Lurena Wills, all of Anniston; Shokira Ledford of Gadsden and Christy Baker of Oxford.

The second class of program completers recognized in September include De’Aundra Foster, Kara Griffin, Kaylin Ogg, Marissa Smith, Dana Ruiz, all of Anniston; Baleigh Clay of Cleburne; Ariette Fomby of Gadsden; Elaura Tant of Glencoe; Janelle Thomas, Brylee Wells, Dieren Weeks-Kadir, all of Jacksonville; Jessica Adams of Lineville; Melissa Johnson of Muscadine and Tiffany Morrissey, Philana Russell, both of Oxford.

“We are proud of these completers and for all the students from our various programs who chose to upgrade their skills, learn new skills or become better trained employees,” said Baisha Woody, director of Skills Training.  “Gadsden State is fortunate and excited to be able to offer short-term, non-credit training through the Skills Training Center to help meet the needs of our community. The Center provides a hands-on approach to give students the experience they need to be valuable employees.”

The Medication Assistant Program, designed to complete in four weeks, prepares students to administer routine medications to patients in nursing facilities, assisted living environments and more.
