Alabama Sees Drop in COVID Case Numbers

For the first time since July 19th, Alabama added less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day on Sunday.  The Alabama Department of Public Health reported just 892 new cases Sunday – that’s the lowest total since the state reported 718 cases on July 19th, as the delta variant was just beginning to take hold here.

The low total on Sunday is part of an overall trend for Alabama since peaking back in early September.  Since that time, the 7-day average for new cases has fallen steadily, and now stands at 1,663 cases per day – the lowest it’s been since July 26.
