Two auto accidents occurred within moments of each other early Tuesday morning – one occurring in the midst of extremely heavy fog.
The first, involving two SUV’s, was at approximately 8:00am in Centre on the Chesnut Bypass across from CVS Pharmacy – with that collision appearing to be only minor in nature.
The second accident, occurring around 8:10, involved a passenger car striking a farm tractor on Highway 9 South near County 8 just outside of Piedmont. The tractor went down an embankment about 25 to 30 feet reportedly trapping the driver underneath – that, according to the Piedmont Fire Department.
A landing zone was set up at Goshen United Methodist Church; the driver was carried by ambulance to the scene and then flown by Air-EVAC to an area trauma center.
No word on the driver of the car at this point.
We’ll have additional information on both accidents as reports are made available.
