Rev. Emmett Simpson Crider

Rev. Emmett Simpson Crider, age 90 of Rome passed away September 22, 2021 in a local health care.

Rev. Crider was native of Cherokee County Alabama, and a son of late, James Crider, and Gazelle Georgia Stubblefield Crider.

He was ordained as a minister at Gethsemane Baptist Church in 1973. Rev. Crider was employed by Georgia School for the Deaf, Lindale Mills before retiring from General Electric. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War as a corporal and squad leader.

He was preceded in death by his, wife Myrtle Ruth Crider, siblings, Paul Crider, Robert Crider, Rev. Hoover Crider, Lodema Miller, Velma Crider, Annie Lou Rochester, and Lillian Caldwell.

Survivors include his son, Terry (Collette Croch) Crider, brother, Joe (Betty) Crider, grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan) Godwin, Caleb Crider, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday September 26, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doyle Kerr, officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery on HWY 411, Centre, Al. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour on Sunday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen, Caleb Crider, Jonathan Godwin, Danny Bobo, Dustin Steed, Bobby Crider, and Randall Crider.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Center East Suite 550 Atlanta, Ga. 30346.
