Alabama added nearly 4,000 new COVID cases going from Wednesday into Thursday.
The Alabama Department of Public Health shows the state has had a total of 761,865 COVID-19 cases since March 2020 with 3,972 just being added – and the state’s death toll now standing at 12,856, that’s an increase of 72. Bear in mind, deaths can take as long as two weeks before they are confirmed to the ADPH.
The Alabama Hospital Association indicated the state has 2,329 people hospitalized with COVID and of those, 2,279 are adults and 50 are pediatric patients. The state has 1,563 ICU patients – 48% of whom have COVID – but only 1,547 staffed ICU beds. Of those adults in the hospital 84% are unvaccinated, 4% partially vaccinated, and 12% are fully vaccinated.
Of the 50 pediatric COVID patients, 19 are in the ICU and 6 require ventilation.
Here are the latest county-by-county case results. The first figure is the total number of cases in that county since March 2020.
The second figure is the increase reported in the last day.
