Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting For Monday, September 13th

The Cedar Bluff Town Council approved several items during their regular meeting on Monday evening.

Among those items was approval of the minutes from the previous meeting in addition to the financial reports for the month of August.

Police Chief Brody Moses presented the police department report for the month of August. Chief Moses stated that he would have a more detailed report for the upcoming month.

Resident Thomas Wall addressed the council concerning an issue regarding the nuisance of a local camper park on County Road 131. Mayor Crane stated that Building Inspector Calvin Walling and the Town was aware of the situation and was addressing the matter.

In other business, the council also approved a contract agreement with ETA Data Direct, Inc. for new court software.

At the recommendation of Chief Brody Moses, the council approved the purchase of a new vehicle for the police department. Currently, there is shortage of police vehicles because production on those types of vehicles is being stopped. There is also a shortage of used police vehicles which has made it difficult for the department to find a used vehicle.

The council approved a large list of surplus items from the police department to be sold on gov deals which will help offset the cost of the vehicle which will total around $40,000 for the vehicle and all the necessary equipment.

The council approved to increase the cost of an accident report from $10 to $15.

The council has also agreed to use Rescue/COVID Funds to be used to for several renovations and premium pay for town employees. The town will be seeking quotes for the repairs of culverts, the upgrade to the back door at city hall, a new municipal courtroom addition, metal detectors, sanitizing stations in the town park and a hand washing station at the pavilion inside the park.

The council will hold a special called budget work session on October 4th at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the spending of the Rescue/COVID Funds. The next regular scheduled meeting of the Cedar Bluff Town Council will be October 11th at 5:30 p.m.
