Strong Thunderstorm Causes Widespread Damage

The National Weather Service in Birmingham says that a strong downburst/straight-line wind from a cluster of storms took down several trees along Cherokee County Road 7 in Leesburg on Wednesday, some of which caused some structural damage.

There were also a few trees downed across numerous locations in Leesburg, Cedar Bluff, and Centre. 

Structural damage was also reported at a home on County Road 5 in Leesburg and a farm storage building was damaged on County Road 23 in Leesburg. There was a report of a tree on a structure and trees in the power lines also on County Road 23.

Cherokee County EMA reported numerous tress down across the county.

There were no reports of anyone being injured.
