Alabama Hospital Association Holding Vigil for COVID-19 Patients Today (Tuesday, September 7th) at 12:00 Noon

The Alabama Hospital Association is planning a statewide vigil TODAY (on Tuesday), taking place at 12:00 noon to remember the more than 12,000 Alabamians who have died from COVID-19.

That event will encourage everyone to remember those who’ve died and honor those who are currently afflicted with the virus.

To date, 12,283 individuals have died from COVID-19; that, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Alabama Hospital Association President Donald Williamson said it’s likely everyone knows someone who has been “negatively impacted by COVID-19,” – adding the vigil can be seen as “helpful and healing for us all to have a few collective minutes of silent reflection and prayer.”

Williamson went on to say “The Delta variant is causing unprecedented devastation and grief in Alabama – we hoped that we would be in a better place this fall – but our hospitals are full, and families across the state continue to deal with tremendous loss,” summing up with this statement “Our dedicated health care workers are under incredible physical and emotional strain, yet still are giving all they have to care for their patients.”
