Alabama Adds More than 5,000 Confirmed Cases of COVID

Alabama has added more than 5,000 COVID cases to its total.

The latest data from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows that the state has had 699,729 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020 – with 5,206 being added going from Monday into Tuesday this week.

The state added 61 deaths to bring that total to 12,283.  Bear in mind, not all of those deaths occurred on Monday – confirmed deaths can take up to two weeks to show up on the ADPH total.

The Department of Public Health reports the state now has 2,815 people hospitalized with COVID-19 – 2,767 adults and 48 pediatric patients.  The state also has 1,580 ICU patients for 1,507 staffed ICU beds, creating a deficit of 73 beds – forcing hospitals to treat those patients in other areas.  At this point, 53% of the state’s ICU patients have COVID.

Of all adult COVID patients hospitalized in the state – 84% are unvaccinated – 4% are partially vaccinated – and 12% are fully vaccinated.

Here are the latest county-by-county case numbers.
