Just before 10:00 Monday morning McCords, Spring Creek and Spring Garden firefighters responded to a report of several vehicles being on fire at the 411 Scrap Yard, located in the Hardin community of Centre. Everything was quickly brought under control and no one was injured in connection with the incident.
McCords Fire Department Chief Rich Lindsey said that workers on site struck an oxygen bottle that was unknowingly in the scrap pile.
Fire crews had to setup a water shuttle operation because of hydrants in the area being out of service.
