Rome Residents Charged with Possession of Homemade Improvised Explosive Device

Two people were jailed following the discovery of a homemade improvised explosive device.  According to Floyd County Police an officer approached a vehicle in a parking lot on Kingston Road, and Christen Julia Ray age 26 of Rome was initially arrested for public drunk and then resisted while being placed in handcuffs.

A man in the vehicle, 27 year old Luis Alberto Chacon, also of Rome was arrested on a probation violation.

An inventory of the subject’s vehicle was conducted prior to it being towed away, and that’s when the device was found.  It was later confirmed to be explosive.

Ray and Chacon were then charged with possession of an explosive device.
