Driver Taken Into Custody Following High Speed Pursuit That Ended In Georgia

One person was taken into custody following a high speed chase which began in Leesburg and ended in Chattooga County on Saturday night.

The chase started after a Cherokee County deputy attempted what would have been a routine traffic stop on Highway 68 near Highway 273 in Leesburg, the driver instead fled at a high rate of speed, at that point Leesburg Police also joined the chase.

The chase continued for over 20 miles before finally ending on 7th Ave in Menlo after the vehicle crashed into a wooded area.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene by the Georgia State Patrol after being checked by Chattooga EMS.

According to reports, the male driver had numerous warrants for his arrest
