Funeral service for Mr. Cornelius Mack Studdard, 78, of Piedmont will be Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Union Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Corey Railey officiating and Thompson Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with military graveside honors.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 -2:00 pm at the church.
Mr. Studdard passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Jennings Studdard of Piedmont; son, Steven Studdard (Tawana) of Oxford; two daughters, Stacey Preston (Larry) and Desiree Parris, all of Piedmont; ten grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, Jazmine Guay, Jorden Goss, Duane Studdard, Kory Williams, Aiden Taylor, Joanna Preston, Ethan Preston, Tara Doty, and Rayvn Holsemback; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Terry of Missouri; one brother, Larry Studdard (Sheila) of Centre; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Duane Studdard, Jorden Goss, PhillipTaylor, Aiden Taylor, Kory Williams, Justin Guay, Craig Jackson and Daniel Studdard. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Union Grove United Methodist Church.
Mr. Studdard was a longtime resident of Piedmont and was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church where he was very active. He retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant in the 101st Airborne with twenty years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Korea. He had owned his own trucking company and was a licensed gunsmith. He loved traveling around in his RV and camping and enjoyed watching westerns.
Mr. Studdard was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Studdard, granddaughter, Ashleigh Studdard; parents, Tatum and Grace Studdard; one sister, Barbara Hall and two brothers, Houston Studdard and Billy Studdard.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Grove United Methodist Church, 2495 County Road 45, Piedmont, AL 362728
