An arrest has been made in connection with a case of Arson in Cloudland.

On August 3rd, The Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office requested a member of the Fire Investigations Unit with the Insurance & Safety Fire Commission Office assist them with an investigation into a house fire.  That 43 year old home, located on Riverhaven Lane in Menlo, the Cloudland district – was completely destroyed in a blaze occurring at around 10:20 the previous night.

According to Insurance & Safety Fire Insurance Commissioner John F. King – that fire began in the basement while four people, including the suspect, were at home.  Robert Swearinger, 37 – was placed under arrest and charged with Arson 1st Degree, Criminal Damage to Property, Family Violence and Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

He currently remains in the Chattooga County Jail.
