Thurman Whorton age 81 of Centre passed away Friday August 6th at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday August 8th at Cherokee Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Keith Day, & Rev. Garet Rana officiating, entombment will follow in the Cherokee Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife of 58 ½ years, Hellon Couey Whorton; son, Chris (Brenda) Whorton of Centre; daughters, Penny Whorton Grimes, Shelley Whorton East both of Centre; brother, Charley (Carolyn) Whorton; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, & 6 brothers.
Pallbearers include Tyler Phillips, Caleb Whorton, Jeff Brooks, Ronnie Whorton, Chris Crumbly, Paul Wayne Sewell, honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Graham Sunday School Class.
Mr. Whorton was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Ellis & Maybell Whorton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church #2.
