CENTRE – It’s been four months since Easy Street restaurant in Centre opened its doors, and its owners have continuously expanded the venue’s entertainment lineup.

The latest addition is coming this September.

Easy Street will sponsor and host the WEIS Radio End Zone Show, the station’s Thursday night live high school and college football preview show, which begins its 11th season on the air this fall.

“The End Zone Show has been successful, and we’re excited to be able to affect a successful partnership with Easy Street on hosting it,” WEIS station manager Jerry Baker said.

“For those who haven’t been to Easy Street, you need to stop in and check it out and see what they have to offer. They have a beautiful venue that not only offers the atmosphere you like, but it’s also very functional. They have sound equipment there. They have a sound system complete with a camera system, so we’re going to be able to do some things this year that we haven’t done in the past. I don’t want to give away too much, but there’s some new and exciting things coming with The End Zone Show due to our partnership with the venue at Easy Street, located on West Main Street in Centre.”

Easy Street is under the partner ownership of Shane and Katy Givens, and Donald and Debbie Sullivan.

Shane is a practicing attorney in Centre. Katy runs the Real Estate division of his firm. Debbie and Donald are the owners and operators of Weiss Internet.

“We are all members of the community, and football is big here. Shane and Katy have young kids, and they’re all in sports, so this was just a fun partnership for our community. It’s just a way to put ourselves out there for that,” Debbie said.

“We want people to know what’s happening here, and to know that it’s not just a night club,” Donald said. “We want to do lots of different things here, and having (WEIS) in here will be good for the community to have somewhere for people to get together for that.”

Easy Street is known for its live music, karaoke, and “True Crime” podcasts. The restaurant also hosted the first Cherokee County football media day back in June.

“It really is the perfect venue for (The End Zone Show) because no one else has this setup,” Debbie said. “It was created with music in mind, but it’s become so much more. Of course we’ve got the live music, the karaoke, things like that, but we do a podcast here every other Wednesday, and we’ve done the high school football media day. It’s just easy to facilitate and it really is good for our community.”

“We’re glad to do it,” Donald added. “We opened this place up for things like this. We expected to be able to have things like that. I’m just glad the first year we’re open we’re doing it.”

Baker said Easy Street’s accommodations should make for an entertaining and informative broadcast.

“Easy Street is able to accommodate large parties and large groups, so those people who come and dine with us on Thursday nights for The End Zone Show, they will be able to enjoy the atmosphere there in the restaurant, but also, they won’t have to worry about being able to hear,” Baker said.

“With the overhead sound system they have in there, our End Zone Show will be able to be heard throughout the restaurant as well as on the air. For those who are coming in, they’ll be able to enjoy listening to The End Zone Show live as it goes on and interact with our End Zone Show crew.”

The Easy Street End Zone Show, featuring Cherokee County Hall of Fame and former Sand Rock football coach Russell Jacoway, Post-Herald Managing Editor Scott Wright, and WEIS Sports Director Shannon Fagan, opens the 2021 football season on Aug. 19 at the Sand Rock jamboree. The second week of the show will be broadcast live from Spring Garden for the Cedar Bluff at Spring Garden game on Aug. 26.

The first End Zone Show broadcast from Easy Street will be Sept. 2. Each broadcast begins at 6 p.m.

“We think it’s going to be a great season with Donald, Debbie, Shane, Katy and everyone at the Easy Street restaurant,” Baker said. “We appreciate them and look forward to a great partnership.”
