One Person Shot And Killed Following Domestic Incident In The Round Mountain Area

An investigation into a fatal shooting in the Round Mountain area of Cherokee County is underway.

Officers were called to the residence on County Road 662 at around 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in response to a report of a domestic incident resulting in one person apparently being stabbed and another shot and killed.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver said, “This tragic incident was part of a domestic dispute and is very sad for the family.”

According to information obtained by WEIS Radio, two children were present in the home when the altercation and shooting took place.

According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, the case is under investigation by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit and the Coroner’s Office. The case will be presented by the District Attorney’s Office to a Cherokee County Grand Jury.

The Cherokee County Coroners Office, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Cherokee County Deputies/Investigators, Leesburg Police, Centre Police and Cedar Bluff Police all responded to the scene.
