Cherokee Co. Volunteer Fire Departments Receive Funding From The Alabama Legislature

During a recent meeting of the Cherokee County Association of Fire Departments, State Senator Andrew Jones was in attendance to present each department with a check in the amount of $1,500 to be used to help further training, purchase equipment and/or assist in the over all operations of each respective department.

Senator Jones issued a statement to WEIS Radio saying;

“Our volunteer fire departments are the backbone of our communities and often the first to respond to the scene of a fire or accident. I appreciate these men and women who serve our communities, and I am always pleased to help bring back some funding from the Alabama legislature to support them. Our volunteer fire departments often rely on community support and fundraisers, so any financial help we can get them is important.”

The funds were appropriated by the legislature to the volunteer fire departments to be distributed through the Alabama Forestry Commission.
