Town Of Leesburg Sets Date For 2021 Leesburg Day

It was a busy meeting for the Leesburg Town on Monday. 

Several items were on the agenda for approval. The council approved the minutes from the previous meeting and received for review the monthly expenditures. 

A motion was approved to surplus several items including; a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, an F250 van, a skid unit with pump from a fire department brush truck, a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a roll out tray from the F250 van. 

The council also voted to approved the purchase of a new patrol vehicle from the state bid list. That vehicle will be a Ford Explorer. 

In other business, the council approved a lease agreement with the Lighthouse Christian Academy for the contract year 7/1/2021 – 6/30/2022. They also agreed to repair a window at the facility. 

A motion was passed approving 12 hours APOST certified virtual training through virtual academy for the police department at a cost of $45 per officer. 

A $1000 donation/contract was approved for the Cherokee County Historical Museum. 

The dates for the annual Leesburg Day Celebration was announced, this years event will take place on September 11th at Leesburg Town Park with the Thursday night singing taking place September 9th at the Leesburg Park.
