Since March of 2020, Alabama has recorded 550,451 cases of COVID-19 – with 11,338 deaths being attributed to the virus. Despite those numbers, Alabama ranks next to last when it comes to vaccinations with just under 37% of the population vaccinated.
Alabama is only ahead of Mississippi, where the vaccination rate is just under 30%. The vaccination rate in Alabama’s counties range from 47% in Lowndes County, to as low 19.7% in Russell County.
Cherokee County ranks #59 of Alabama’s 67 counties – with a rate of just 27.7%

That percentage indicates the number of people who’ve received at least ONE dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine OR completed the single-dose J&J version.
