Centre Firefighters Respond To Vehicle Fire At Wal-Mart On Sunday

Centre Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at the Centre Wal-Mart on Sunday afternoon.

According to Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee, the owner had went to make a grocery pick-up when the Wal-Mart employee noticed a fire underneath the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle and Wal-Mart employees attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher but the fire was too big.

Centre Engine 9 arrived to find the engine compartment fully engulfed in flames and quickly extinguished the blaze.

Fortunately no injuries were reported.

Chief Lee said he would like to commend Wal-Mart staff and firefighters for their quick response which allowed for surrounding vehicles to be moved which prevented further damage.

Lee stated that they are in process of obtaining video footage from Wal-Mart to assist in determining the exact cause of the fire.
