One Home Destroyed, One Other Damaged By Fire Near Cherokee Rock Village

It was a long night for several fire departments as firefighters battled not one, but two structures simultaneously on Saturday night. 

The original call to 911 was a complaint of smoke in the 2700 block of County Road 70 near Cherokee Rock Village, firefighters responded and found one home fully engulfed in flames and another on fire inside a garage. It appears there was no one at home at the time of blaze. Firefighters spent several hours on scene. 

One home was completely destroyed, the other receiving moderate damage. 

Personnel from the Leesburg, Sand Rock, Tucker’s Chapel, Centre and Collinsville Fire Departments all responded to the scene with assistance provided by Cherokee County EMA personnel. 

The cause of the fire is not known at this time, Cherokee County Fire/Arson Investigators are continuing to investigate.
