James David Ashley, age 70 of Centre, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ashley was born on February 21, 2021 in Gadsden to the late Otis & Virginia Davis Ashley.

David was an accomplished musician, playing upright bass with several bluegrass bands in the area, most notably Dixie Grey and the Foggy Hollow Band.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

David is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, T.J. Ashley; son & daughter-in-law, James & Danielle Ashley; grandchildren, Ethan and Kaylee Ashley; sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Ashley; and nieces & nephews, Bob Ashley, Kelly & Jimmy Sanders, Gerald & Tammy Ashley; and Stuart Ashley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Ashley.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
