OVERVIEW: An area of disturbed weather over the Gulf of Mexico has been classified as Potential Tropical Cyclone Three.  This system will bring a primary risk of heavy rainfall and flooding to parts of Central Alabama this weekend.

Reminder / What is a Potential Tropical Cyclone?  The National Hurricane Center has the option to issue advisories, watches, and warnings for disturbances that aren’t yet a tropical cyclone, but which pose the threat of bringing tropical storm or hurricane conditions to land areas within 48 hours.

This allows for the prediction and communication of tropical cyclone impacts while systems are still in the developmental stage.  If this system reaches the necessary threshold, it will become the “C” storm, Claudette.
