Authorities are still trying to determine just why an employee at the Mueller plant on Industrial Boulevard in Albertville fatally shot two co-workers, wounded two others and then apparently shot and killed himself early Tuesday morning.  Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith stated that the incident began at around 2:30am, when Andreas Deon Horton, age 34 of DeKalb County, pulled a handgun – and started shooting.

Police Chief Smith:

At this time additional information regarding the extent of their injuries has yet to be released.  Chief Smith said the shooting took place in “two or three” different areas in the plant. 

During that press conference, Smith shared details of the events following the tragic event:

Where Horton was found was about a 20 minute drive from the plant; his vehicle was reportedly found parked alongside a road that overlooked his mother’s grave, in the Guntersville City Cemetery.  She had passed away in 2011 from cancer – at the age of 40.

Mueller is a gated factory with a guard house, that’s staffed by a private security firm, 

According to Smith, no motive for the shooting has yet been established – meanwhile, the investigation into the matter is on-going.
