A Cherokee County (Alabama) man was jailed in northwest Georgia after he allegedly stole three payroll checks from a Rome-area business.
Derrick Wayne Thrift, 45 of Gaylesville, stands accused of stealing those checks from A1 Trucking with the intent of iusing the funds for personal use; according to reports he went to three different locations to cash the checks – which were in the amount of $597.03; $430.06; and $2,787.76.
The theft is believed to have actually taken place late last month (April, 2021).
Thrift has been charged with Forgery 3rd Degree, Forgery 4th Degree (two counts) – and Theft by Taking (three co8unts).
The investigation into the matter is on-going.
