There’s now a better way to go about doing just that:  Get expert help from the Centre Career Center – now open in the Cherokee County Public Library.  The library is now home to a satellite location for the Alabama Career Center System, and Career Center Specialist Andre Mitchell will be on-hand each Tuesday and Friday to help those that are in the job market with actual job search assistance, plus preparing a resume, and on the job training and individual training and much more.

They also offer a website filled with valuable information, resources and connections – visit AlabamaWorks.Alabama.gov where you’ll find step-by-step guidelines covering everything from “Self-Assessment” of your specific job skills, in order to identify your professional strengths and talents; checking the labor market with links to hard data on how your skills may, or may not apply, to a particular market; finding educational resources to obtain specific training for a certain occupation and – of course – finding employers and today’s up to date job openings.  

Services also include work-based learning, adult education, and veteran’s job service programs.  Tuesday and Friday hours for the Career Center will be 9:00am – 4:00pm.

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce recently held the official ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the Centre Career Center with those in attendance including Alabama Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington, Centre Mayor Mark Mansfield – and Gadsden Career Center Senior Manager Katrina Herring, among many others.
