Two Chattooga County, Georgia residents were recently arrested in Mentone – after a high-speed chase with DeKalb County deputies on Highway 117.
According to a news release from Sheriff Nick Welden, back on May 2nd deputies had conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it was traveling through Mentone – with the subsequent search turning up approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine.
That couple, identified as 38 year old Clay Duke Borman of Summerville, and 36 year old Heather Noles Hines also from Summerville had a one year old child with them in the vehicle at the time.
The report also noted that Borman, who was driving bailed out and ran following the pursuit and once being apprehended continued to resist arrest and additionally gave false information to law enforcement. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, with Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child, Using False ID to Obstruct Justice and Resisting Arrest, Hines was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
DeKalb County Narcotics Agents were called to the scene to assist with the arrest and DHR was called to assist with the child.
