Cherokee County Health & Rehab Center Recognizes Staff & Residents During National Skilled Nursing Care Week

Cherokee County Health & Rehab Center is joining other facilities across the nation to recognize nursing home residents and staff for their contributions to the community during National Skilled Nursing Care Week.

On Monday morning, Administrator John Boggs read Gov. Kay Ivey’s proclamation designating May 9-15 as Nursing Care Week in Alabama and thanked employees for their care and dedication.

In the proclamation, Ivey also reminded the public that nursing home residents have contributed greatly to our state.

“The citizens of Alabama now residing in nursing homes, also known as skilled nursing care centers, have contributed immeasurably to the heritage, success and growth of our state,” she said.

Boggs said celebrating nursing home week, which is a tradition at CCHRC, “makes it feel like we are returning to normal.”

Ivey said Alabama nursing homes have made remarkable progress in the fight against COVID-19 in the past year.

The national theme for 2021 is “Together Through the Seasons.” The theme celebrates the collaborative commitment of skilled nursing care facilities and their staff in providing compassionate care to their residents through unprecedented times.

Activities Director Tara Martin has planned a week of special events for staff and residents highlighting the seasons of the year.
