Cherokee County Residents Can Now Obtain Handgun Permits Online

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office announced improvements to its concealed handgun permit application process for county residents.

The Sheriff’s Office is offering an online concealed handgun permit system to handle all new concealed handgun permits, renewals and address changes. The system went live on Monday.

“We feel the residents of Cherokee County will appreciate the ease of the online system,” said Sheriff Jeff Shaver. “You won’t have to take off work to get your permit or to renew your permit. It’s all done online.”

The new system allows Cherokee County residents to apply for a permit online 24/7.

The new online form is secure and can be completed via a smartphone, tablet or computer. Application fees for permits will also be collected online through the application system and can be completed via credit or debit card.

“The Permitium system will also streamline the process in the Sheriff’s Office as well. I hope Cherokee County residents will embrace this new technology and take advantage of it,” Shaver said.

Applicants must reside in Cherokee County and meet the requirements as outlined on the website. Applicants must apply in the county where they reside. More information is available on the Sheriff’s Office website at www.cherokeecountyalsheriff.com/pistol-permits-and-administration.
