A Cherokee County (Alabama) man was arrested during a traffic stop in Cave Spring early Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records, a Cave Spring police officer stopped a vehicle driven by 25 year old Alexander Preston Brown of Centre on Alabama Street at Perry Farm Road for a defective brake light.
While speaking to Brown the officer saw the cap to a hypodermic needle; Brown then admitted there was a pack of new needles in the vehicle. When asked if he was diabetic Brown stated that his mom is but he is not; afterwards a search of the vehicle turned up used needles and what appeared to be new syringes inside a tin box in the back seat. A small baggie containing a white, crystal substance was also located. Brown told the officer that the substance would test positive for methamphetamine – but it was not his.
Brown was placed under arrest and charged with the possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, the operation of an unregistered vehicle or vehicle without a current license plate, and operating an unsafe vehicle.
