SULLIGENT — Cam Welsh tossed a two-hitter in 5 1/3 innings, helping fourth-ranked Spring Garden advance to the second round of the Class 2A baseball playoffs. The Panthers blanked Sulligent 11-0 in their decisive third game on Saturday.
Jackson Maddox pitched the other 1 1/3 innings for the Panthers (22-13).
Luke Welsh led the Panther offense by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Ryley and Weston Kirk both went 3-for-5. Maddox, Chaz Pope and Kenneth Petty were all 2-for-4.
Spring Garden scored in every inning but the second.
The Panthers host Falkville in the second round on Friday.
