YOUTH LEADERSHIP CHEROKEE (YLC) is designed to prepare and build leadership resources within our entire county. The select group of participants is comprised of young and emerging leaders of the area. They receive an intense view of civic and governmental leadership through direct contact with a wide spectrum of institutions that keep Cherokee County solvent and moving forward.
YLC is provided at no cost to the participants. All meals provided by local sponsors.
Juniors from each of the five public high schools located in Cherokee County are selected to participate.
YLC is designed to identify, prepare and build upon leadership resources within Cherokee County. The objectives of the program are:
* To motivate participants to achieve their leadership potential.
* To bring together student participants and other leaders to discuss the present and future direction of Cherokee County.
* To prepare participants to greater involvement through volunteer roles in the community.
* To examine programs and agencies that currently operate within Cherokee
County.
* To create the opportunity for participants to come to know, respect, and establish rapport with each other.
