PIEDMONT – After giving up four runs to Cherokee County in the top of the fifth inning to lose the lead, the Piedmont Bulldogs bounced back with five runs in the bottom half and went on to post a 10-7 baseball win on Tuesday.
Austin Estes led the Class 3A, No. 2 Bulldogs (26-4) at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. He also picked up the win after working two relief innings of one-hit ball with a walk and four strikeouts.
Cassius Fairs went 2-for-4 with a run and four RBIs. Jadon Calhoun doubled and scored a run. Jack Hayes had a hit, a run and two RBIs. McClane Mohon managed a hit, a run and a RBI. Sean Smith contributed a hit, a walk and a run. Max Hanson walked three times and scored twice.
Walker Pruitt, Cody Adderhold, Tristan Whitefield and Connor Wilson each had a pair of hits for the Warriors (15-13). One of Pruett’s hits was a triple. He scored a run and drove in another. Adderhold and Whitefield both doubled. Adderhold scored twice and drove in a run. Whitefield also walked and scored a run. Wilson had a RBI.
Isaiah Wood and Haden Wheeler had the other two Warrior hits. Wood also walked and scored a run.
Wilson suffered the loss after working two innings. He gave up four earned runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.
