A Boaz man is behind bars following a traffic stop in Centre on Tuesday.
According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga stopped a vehicle on West Main Street near Kerr’s Redi-Mix for failing to yield the right of way and failing to signal.
During the course of the stop, Mayorga said that the driver began acting in a suspicious manner. Mayorga requested assistance with a consent search of the vehicle.
Leesburg Investigator Jamie Chatman and K-9 Draco, Centre Investigator Will Clark and Leesburg Police Chief Brent Grimes responded. Following a search of the vehicle by K-9 Draco, officers recovered approximately 13 grams of Methamphetamine.
56 year old Rickey Jerome Noblitt of Boaz was arrested at the scene and booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute. He was also issued traffic citations for the infractions.
He is currently being held in jail on a $15,000 Bond.
Mayorga and Chief Blankenship said that they would like to express their appreciation to the Leesburg Police Department for their assistance in the case.
