The Better Business Bureau is warning that con-artists are looking to NOT ONLY play on your COVID-19 fears, but steal your stimulus check as well.
Criminals are posing as representatives calling from the Social Security Office.
The BBB warns that these scammers know how to manipulate your caller ID so while the call may LOOK legitimate – remember no one from the Social Security Office, law enforcement OR from the Internal Revenue Service – will EVER call you to ask for any personal, private information over the phone.
When it comes to any e-mails or text messages, consumers should be cautious of any of those having instructions encouraging you to click on any link to “request benefit payments,” Also be wary of any messages asking you to “verify” personal information.
