CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 12-11 Class 4A, Area 9 baseball win over White Plains on Tuesday.
Haden Wheeler had a perfect day at the plate for the Warriors (12-11, 3-0). He went 5-for-5 with a triple, a double, four runs and three RBIs. Cooper Rodgers collected a pair of hits, a walk and three runs. Connor Wilson also contributed a pair of hits, a walk and two RBIs.
Isaiah Wood added a hit, a walk and a run. Walker Pruett posted a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Malachi Horton finished with a hit and a run.
Wilson earned the win in an inning of relief. He surrendered a hit and had a strikeout.
The two teams finish their series on Wednesday at White Plains at 4:30 p.m.
