Some Stormy Weather Will Likely Enter Cherokee County Tonight, Lasting into Thursday

Cherokee County and other parts of Alabama will enter a wet – and possibly stormy – stretch starting tonight (Thursday) – possibly lasting all the way into Saturday.  The National Weather Service says some of those storms could be severe, with there being the possibility of damaging winds, heavy rain and even a chance for a tornado.  That severe weather will be possible later this evening ahead of a cold front and could last until around mid-day tomorrow.

The Storm Prediction Center has much of north Alabama listed under what is termed a marginal risk, which is Level 1, meaning isolated severe storms will be possible.  Looking ahead – pretty much all of Alabama could have to deal with strong to severe storms Friday.  Saturday, there could be more severe weather before the storm front takes its leave.

Drier and calmer weather is expected for the state starting on Sunday – according to forecasters – and temperatures are expected to stay at seasonable levels.
