SPRING GARDEN – Neely Welsh doubled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 3-2 Class 2A, Area 12 softball win against visiting Sand Rock on Tuesday.

Welsh finished with a pair of hits for the Lady Panthers (13-5, 3-0). Kylie-Grace Wood homered twice. Kayley Kirk, Avery and Abbey Steward contributed a hit apiece for Spring Garden. Abbey Steward also walked.

Abbey Steward earned the win in the circle. She went the distance, giving up two earned runs on eight hits with four walks and nine strikeouts.

Jadyn Foster suffered the loss for Sand Rock (13-12-1, 1-2). She worked seven innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

EllaGrace Hood went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run for the Lady Wildcats. Maggie Tinsley doubled, walked, scored a run and drove in a run. Sammi Parker doubled and drove in a run. Katelyn St. Clair added a hit and a walk. Foster and Rylin St. Clair both finished with a hit.
