PIEDMONT – Neely Welsh and Avery Steward both went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 5-4 softball win at Piedmont on Monday.

One of Welsh’s hits was a double.

She also scored a run and drove in another.

Steward scored twice and drove in a run.

Kylie-Grace Wood went 2-for-3 with a double. Ace Austin was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Abbey Steward also went 2-for-4. Maggie Jarrett was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Kayley Kirk finished with a hit.

Wood picked up the win in the circle. She tossed 6 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs on nine hits with six walks and a strikeout.

Grace Epperson led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance. She walked, scored a run and had a RBI. Jaycee Glover went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI.

Savannah Smith suffered the loss after working 4 1/3 innings. She gave up four earned runs on 11 hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts.
