The National Weather Service in Birmingham has extended their
* Flood Warning for East Central Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama
* Until 630pm (CDT) Monday.
* Reporting gauges indicate elevated levels along the Coosa River above Weiss Lake. This will cause lowland flooding along the Coosa River Above Weiss Lake.
Some locations to experience flooding will include Centre, Cedar Bluff, Eastern Weiss Lake, Howells Crossroads and Waterhouse.
As of 9:30 this morning, the Weiss Lake level was at 567’ 10”; that’s 3’ 10” above full pool of 564’
Those having property around Weiss Lake should take action NOW to protect their belongings, motorists should also exercise caution with more and more roads across the area being subject to ponding or outright flooding.

Also, anyone fishing on Weiss Lake should take extra care, due to the large amount of debris deposited in the water from the high winds and rain.
